A holistic approach to analyzing stocks

Industries and Indexes
Have you ever bought a stock that looked like a winner, only to watch it drop in price for apparently no clear reason afterwards? There is a chance that the stock price fell simply because the market decided to sell its industry group, its index, or both.

This is why we believe it is important not only to analyze the stock, but to analyze that stock's Index and Industry Group, before you buy or sell. To make this process fast and easy, we divided theScreener.com into three main analysis sections:

Stocks
Industries
Indexes
Before making your final decision about the purchase or sale of a stock, perhaps it would be a good idea to ask yourself: "How is this stock's industry group doing right now?"

You can check this by clicking on the Industries tab on the homepage.

Industries:
Using the Industries function you can review all eighteen Industry Groups from both the standard and advanced point of view. For a profound analysis of the industry group you can click on the industry group name found in both the Standard and Advanced View. You will find the Chart, Checklist, Analysis, and Historical Views used for analyzing individual stocks are also provided for industry groups. To call up a list of stocks included in a particular industry group you simply click on the "number of stocks" found in the Standard View. Only the industry groups in the markets covered by your subscription will be available for analysis.

You may also want to ask yourself: "Is this stock included in an index, and if it is, how is that index doing right now?"

You can check this by clicking on the Indexes tab on the homepage.

Indexes:
Using the Indexes function you can review the Indexes from all over the world from both a standard and advanced point of view. This will enable you to track world trends by index. If you wish you can delve deeper into the analysis of the indexes in your particular subscription. This can be done by clicking on the name of the index, which will enable you to see the Chart and Historical Views for the index, or you can also click on the "number of stocks" to view the list of stocks that are covered by theScreener.com within that index. These functionalities will not be available for the indexes that are not covered by your subscription.

This simple approach only takes a few minutes, and it may prove to be very helpful.
